Piers Tinker took the ball and in the 4 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Niko Burzanović. Niko Burzanović dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. Dražen Lečić sent away a hard shot on goal in the 15th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Russell Deveraux took the ball and in the 21 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Niko Burzanović. Niko Burzanović dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-0. Russell Deveraux sent away a hard shot on goal in the 26th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After 32 played minutes Scelavi got a freekick which was hit by Milenko Vučetić. A hard shot 34 in the game by Piers Tinker from a close distance when the talented Niko Burzanović managed to make a qualified save. Scelavi's players were relieved. Kristopher Beasley showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Vukan Popadić in the 36th minute of the match. If Dražen Lečić had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Russell Deveraux stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Dražen Lečić could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 53rd minute of the match, but Kristopher Beasley made a huge save. If Dražen Lečić had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 55th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 58 minutes, Vukan Popadić managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Scelavi's supporters crossed their fingers, but Vukan Popadić was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 60th minute Russell Deveraux shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Niko Burzanović saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 63rd minute, Vukan Popadić hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Vukan Popadić's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Kristopher Beasley read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 71st minute of play. After 73 minutes, Garry Fairfax mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Huyton United and the Scelavi players grew even worse after the yellow card. When the match had been going on for 75 minutes, Scelavi's Vahid Perić got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Kristopher Beasley. In the 78th minute Vukan Popadić shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Kristopher Beasley saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Niko Burzanović made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Piers Tinker in the 86th minute of play. A collision led to Huyton United getting a freekick after 94 minutes play. Kyle Stiles hit a great ball. Scelavi's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
