With a little luck, UWA Cardigan's Gwern Flood got control of the ball when Gwilym Carver tried to sneak it across the goal line. 21 minutes into the game, UWA Rh's Gwilym Carver nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. A very good chance. 33 minutes into the game, Perceval Bender was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. UWA Cardigan's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave UWA Rh the free kick. Perceval Bender hit a great freekick 33 minutes into the match. After a defensive mix-up in UWA Cardigan's zone, Gwilym Carver stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gwern Flood came out of the goal and Gwilym Carver tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Gwilym Carver had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Vaughn Coalman fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 43rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gwern Flood having to interfere. Gwern Flood made an important save on a dangerous shot by Gwilym Carver in the 46th minute. In the 47th minute, UWA Cardigan's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Vaughn Coalman fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

Gwern Flood was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Gwern Flood took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gwilym Carver, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
