Cynan Black showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Vaughn Brackeen, who was totally free with the ball in the 19th minute. After 23 played minutes, UWA Caerleon's Cadarn Fishman shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Cynan Black came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in UWA Caerleon reached it. After 24 played minutes UWA Caerleon got a freekick which was hit by Weyland Forsyth. Barris Fell hit a great freekick 26 minutes into the match. Evrei Cunningham showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cadeyrn Beckett, who was totally free with the ball in the 28th minute. Evrei Cunningham stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Cadeyrn Beckett's shot from short distance in the 30th minute. Rhodri Finlay sent away a hard shot on goal in the 32nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. A collision led to Newtown FC getting a freekick after 34 minutes play. Taffy Everton hit a great ball. Rhodri Finlay took the ball and in the 36 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Cynan Black. Cynan Black dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. In the 39th minute Rhodri Finlay shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cynan Black saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to Newtown FC getting a freekick after 39 minutes play. Ifor Carey hit a great ball. Cynan Black showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Rhodri Finlay in the 40th minute of the match. Cynan Black made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rhodri Finlay in the 43rd minute of play. Evrei Cunningham made an important save on a dangerous shot by Barris Fell in the 45th minute. If Rhodri Finlay had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Vaughn Brackeen to make the kick off. 52 minutes into the game, Evrei Love was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Newtown FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave UWA Caerleon the free kick. A collision led to Newtown FC getting a freekick after 52 minutes play. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. 64 minutes into the match, UWA Caerleon's goal looked a bit too open when Peredur Cameron came free, but Evrei Cunningham reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Trefor Knill's late challenge caught a Newtown FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Trefor Knill helped the player get up and apologised. Cadeyrn Beckett fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 71st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Evrei Cunningham having to interfere. Evrei Cunningham didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Cadeyrn Beckett went, in the 74th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. Newtown FC's Barris Fell got a good chance for a goal in the 78th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The supporters of Newtown FC booed when UWA Caerleon was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 84 match minutes in a wonderful position. Fercos Haugh didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 85thth minute of the game Cadeyrn Beckett who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but UWA Caerleon's Evrei Cunningham was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 86 minutes into the match, Newtown FC's goalkeeper Cynan Black had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Rhodri Finlay. The audience was convinced that Vaughn Brackeen's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Cynan Black was relentless in the 89th minute of the game. With a little luck, Newtown FC's Cynan Black got control of the ball when Rhodri Finlay tried to sneak it across the goal line.
