After a defensive mix-up in Oswaldtwistle's zone, Muhammad Bourguiba stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Mohamed Fitouri came out of the goal and Muhammad Bourguiba tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Muhammad Bourguiba in the 23rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Mohamed Fitouri saved Oswaldtwistle from getting behind. Karim Ben Aïssa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Issam Ammar in the 25th minute of play. Issam Ammar fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 26th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Karim Ben Aïssa having to interfere. Issam Ammar struck a weak shot in the 29th minute. Karim Ben Aïssa didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Oswaldtwistle. Earl Shilton FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Muhammad Bourguiba was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Mohamed Fitouri breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The supporters of Earl Shilton FC booed when Oswaldtwistle was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 36 match minutes in a wonderful position. Majdi Belgacem didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 39th minute Earl Shilton FC were awarded a corner. Anis Sfar went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner led to Earl Shilton FC's Sami Ben Yahia getting away a dangerous shot that went just outside the goal. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Issam Ammar to make the kick off. With an all-out effort, Oswaldtwistle's Karim Ben Aïssa threw himself towards the right post 52 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Issam Ammar, which otherwise would have been placed in the net.
