Hédi Sellimi showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ahmed Sellimi in the 34th minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 38th minute, Riadh Jaidi managed to get in a good position for a shot. East Horsley's supporters rose to their feet, but Riadh Jaidi was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Hamadi Mestiri breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When Riadh Jaidi came up free with the goalie in the 41st minute, the East Horsley fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Riadh Jaidi couldn't finish the play. Halifax United's Hamadi Mestiri proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 43rd minute of the match, managed to save Halifax United from getting a goal against them. Emir Boumnijel charged in rather forcefully in the 44th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Emir Boumnijel the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Halifax United getting a freekick after 46 minutes play. Rashid Achour hit a great ball. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Zine Tlatli during the 55th minute. The referee gave Halifax United a penalty, 57 minutes into the game. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Riadh Jaidi in the 73rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Hamadi Mestiri prevented the ball from getting in the gole.
