When Anis Jennet came up free with the goalie in the 13th minute, the Wellington City fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Anis Jennet couldn't finish the play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Anis Jennet got free with Anis El Abidine Ben Ali in the 14th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When Hedi Sallemi fell near the penalty area in the 15th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Maldon's protests and gave Hedi Sallemi a yellow card for diving instead. Anis El Abidine Ben Ali showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Chems Souayati in the 16th minute of the match. In the 21st minute, Chems Souayati fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. In the 27th match minute, Wellington City was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jawhar Beya to maneuver through the defense. 32 minutes into the match, Ahmed Ammar notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of Wellington City's Haykel Bouzayène. Haykel Bouzayène was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 39th minute Paulo Bejaoui shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Haykel Bouzayène saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Haykel Bouzayène showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ahmed Ammar, who was totally free with the ball in the 43rd minute. The supporters of Maldon booed when Wellington City was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 46 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sabri Bargawi didn't get a good kick on the ball. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

With a couple of smart ball manuevers Ahmed Ammar in the 55th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Haykel Bouzayène saved Wellington City from getting behind. Paulo Bejaoui succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 1-2 in the 56th playminute. Haykel Bouzayène took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ahmed Ammar, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ahmed Ammar might have been able to make a better finish in the 64th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Haykel Bouzayène. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Ahmed Ammar ran back to his position shaking his head. After some fancy dribbling in the 79th minute, Anis Jennet managed to get in a good position for a shot. Wellington City's supporters rose to their feet, but Anis Jennet was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Anis El Abidine Ben Ali breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. A collision led to Wellington City getting a freekick after 87 minutes play. Jawhar Beya hit a great ball. After recieving a nice pass, Maldon's Rashid Srarfi tried to score from far away in the 88th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. In the 89th minute Ahmed Ammar shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Haykel Bouzayène saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Haykel Bouzayène made a fantastic save in the 91st minute, when Paulo Bejaoui sent off a good shot on target. Wellington City's Haykel Bouzayène proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 95th minute of the match, managed to save Wellington City from getting a goal against them. After having played for 97 minutes, Anis Jennet managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Wellington City's supporters crossed their fingers, but Anis Jennet was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal.
