Poynton's Adel Kadri got a good chance for a goal in the 8th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Karim Dali sent away a hard shot on goal in the 9th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Abdallah Bnouni sent away a hard shot on goal in the 12th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 15th minute, Sadok Aleya ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Mohamed Ali Mzoughi was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. Adel Kadri fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 19th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Haroune Trabelsi having to interfere. In the 23rd minute of the match Poynton got a corner. Blackpool's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Mohamed Chaldun ran over to the corner to take the kick. A nice corner shot did that Mohamed Chaldun got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Haroune Trabelsi quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Chaker Mnari charged in rather forcefully in the 24th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Chaker Mnari the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Poynton booed when Blackpool was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 24 match minutes in a wonderful position. Chaker Mnari didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 26th minute, Karim Dali made a precise shot to the right of Haroune Trabelsi. Blackpool's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. Mohamed Ali Mzoughi made an important save on a dangerous shot by Chaker Mnari in the 31st minute. Poynton's Karim Dali got a good chance for a goal in the 33rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Sadok Aleya struck a weak shot in the 39th minute. Mohamed Ali Mzoughi didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Blackpool. Mohamed Ali Mzoughi didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 41st minute, which inside left pole to 2-1. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-1.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Abdallah Bnouni to make the kick off. Sadok Aleya recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 53rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Poynton's Mohamed Ali Mzoughi played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sadok Aleya in the 56th minute of play. Mohamed Ali Mzoughi showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Abdallah Bnouni in the 59th minute of the match. In the 60th minute Sadok Aleya shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mohamed Ali Mzoughi saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After having played for 62 minutes, Karim Dali managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Poynton's supporters crossed their fingers, but Karim Dali was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When Riadh Selliti fell near the penalty area in the 63rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Blackpool's protests and gave Riadh Selliti a yellow card for diving instead. Riadh Selliti kicked well hit freekick during the 63rd minute of the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Abdallah Bnouni in the 66th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Mohamed Ali Mzoughi saved Poynton from getting behind. Mohamed Ali Mzoughi showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sadok Aleya, who was totally free with the ball in the 81st minute. The audience was convinced that Sadok Aleya's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Mohamed Ali Mzoughi was relentless in the 83rd minute of the game. If Adel Kadri had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 84th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Sadok Aleya fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 87th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mohamed Ali Mzoughi having to interfere. After 94 minutes of play Blackpool's Chaker Mnari was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. In the 95th match minute, Blackpool was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Chaker Mnari to maneuver through the defense. In the 96th minute, Adel Kadri got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal.
