Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. Mohsen Slim fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Chokri Bourguiba having to interfere. In the 21st match minute, Pontefract was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jemeleddine Mrabet to maneuver through the defense. Hamza Haggui scored 1-0 in the 23rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Abdallah Karoui, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. If Mohamed Kaâbi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, Retford FC's Said Santos got a free kick in the 33rd minute. Pontefract's Karim Hammemi couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 34th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Retford FC. When Issam Idir came up free with the goalie in the 40th minute, the Pontefract fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Issam Idir couldn't finish the play. Said Santos sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Hamza Haggui was the one to do the kick off. After 52 played minutes Retford FC got a freekick which was hit by Said Santos. Mohsen Slim recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 59th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Rachid Gasmi kicked well hit freekick during the 60th minute of the match. 64 minutes into the match, Retford FC's Hamza Haggui sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Abdallah Karoui narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Abdallah Karoui stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Mohamed Kaâbi's shot from short distance in the 65th minute. In the 66th minute, Hamza Haggui made a precise shot to the right of Abdallah Karoui. Pontefract's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-1. A collision led to Retford FC getting a freekick after 69 minutes play. Rachid Gasmi hit a great ball. After having played for 71 minutes, Issam Idir managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Pontefract's supporters crossed their fingers, but Issam Idir was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Pontefract's Abdallah Karoui played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Hamza Haggui in the 74th minute of play. When Retford FC's Hamza Haggui in the 80th minute got a chance for a shot 80th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. After having played for 95 minutes, Issam Idir managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Pontefract's supporters crossed their fingers, but Issam Idir was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
