With a left leg Patrick Akid saved Newbury from getting behind. Patrick Akid didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Habib Hadda went, in the 21st minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. The audience thought a goal was coming when Ferid Sallemi got free with Mohamed Ghariani in the 29th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kais Eyadema in the 32nd minute of play forced Romsey AFC's goalkeeper Mohamed Ghariani to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Patrick Akid showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Chokri Jelassi in the 34th minute of the match. Ferid Sallemi fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 35th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mohamed Ghariani having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kais Eyadema in the 40th minute of play forced Romsey AFC's goalkeeper Mohamed Ghariani to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 42nd minute Kais Eyadema shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mohamed Ghariani saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 48 minutes into the match, Newbury's goal looked a bit too open when Chokri Jelassi came free, but Patrick Akid reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Romsey AFC's Chokri Jelassi got a good chance for a goal in the 62nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Ferid Sallemi's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Mohamed Ghariani read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 65th minute of play. Chokri Jelassis short, quick shot in the 67thth minute got Patrick Akid to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. If Chokri Jelassi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 69th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 72 minutes into the match, Romsey AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Ferid Sallemi came free, but Mohamed Ghariani reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 75 played minutes Newbury got a freekick which was hit by Noureddine Clayton. In the 82nd minute Habib Hadda shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Patrick Akid saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 93rdth minute of the game Chaker Ghodhbane who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Romsey AFC's Mohamed Ghariani was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The Romsey AFC supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Romsey AFC would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
