In the 15th minute, Salah Yahia left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Shepshed AFC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. If Achref Jaber had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 19th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Heithem Sellimi fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fathi Laabidi having to interfere. Habib Azaïez struck a weak shot in the 28th minute. Fathi Laabidi didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Shepshed AFC. When Heithem Sellimi came up free with the goalie in the 30th minute, the Shepshed AFC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Heithem Sellimi couldn't finish the play. Fathi Laabidi showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Habib Azaïez in the 34th minute of the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Hamed Souissi got free with Bahi Sassi in the 35th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 39 minutes into the match, Rugby's Salah Belhaj Baya sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Bahi Sassi narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Bahi Sassi made a fantastic save in the 40th minute, when Hamed Souissi sent off a good shot on target. Heithem Sellimi received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. The tension between the Rugby and the Shepshed AFC players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 47 played minutes Rugby got a freekick which was hit by Rachid Herguel. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Heithem Sellimi to make the kick off. After some fancy dribbling in the 62nd minute, Habib Azaïez managed to get in a good position for a shot. Shepshed AFC's supporters rose to their feet, but Habib Azaïez was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Fathi Laabidi breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Hamed Souissi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 67th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Heithem Sellimi in the 69th minute of play forced Rugby's goalkeeper Fathi Laabidi to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Shepshed AFC's zone, Salah Belhaj Baya stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Bahi Sassi came out of the goal and Salah Belhaj Baya tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Shepshed AFC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Rugby the free kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by Hamed Souissi in the 92nd minute of play forced Shepshed AFC's goalkeeper Bahi Sassi to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Rugby's Salah Belhaj Baya got a good chance for a goal in the 95th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Shepshed AFC walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
