The goalkeeper, Paulo Yahia, was totally fooled by Triangle United's Chems Mouelhi, who 41 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. Oussama Tlatli made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ahmed Sguir in the 45th minute of play. Aziz Mosrati sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Ismail Karoui stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 53 minutes into the match, Triangle United's Ahmed Namouchi sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Paulo Yahia narrowly saved just below the crossbar. If Ahmed Namouchi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 85th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Newton Aycliffe booed when Triangle United was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 94 match minutes in a wonderful position. Adel Ghariani didn't get a good kick on the ball. The Triangle United fans cheered their team off the field, for while Newton Aycliffe had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
