Ben Baird received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 4th minute. Shane Murphy tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Yarmouth's Stevie Keene got a free kick in the 13th minute. Portree's Frank McCluskie couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 14th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Yarmouth. If Ben Baird had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 17th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 23 minutes into the match, Portree's goal looked a bit too open when Kevin Carson came free, but Taylor McKindlay reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 26 played minutes Portree got a freekick which was hit by Nicky Elliot. Rick McRaith sent away a hard shot on goal in the 30th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 33rd minute Ben Baird shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Shane Murphy saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Yarmouth's Kevin Carson in the 37th minute got a chance for a shot 37th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Portree's goalie prevented a goal. Taylor McKindlay showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Douglas Archibald, who was totally free with the ball in the 43rd minute. Taylor McKindlay made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kevin Carson in the 44th minute of play. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Ben Baird to strike the kick off in the second half. Douglas Archibald sent away a hard shot on goal in the 53rd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Shane Murphy took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ben Baird, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Taylor McKindlay made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kevin Carson in the 60th minute of play. In the 60th match minute, Portree was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alan McCause to maneuver through the defense. Douglas Archibald recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 62nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Kevin Carson couldn't finish the play. Douglas Archibald who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 85thth minute tested the skills of Taylor McKindlay when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Portree's Taylor McKindlay proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 87th minute of the match, managed to save Portree from getting a goal against them. Douglas Archibald recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 90th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Both teams had looked equal from kick-off, and no-one was surprised when the match finally ended in a draw.
