Stevie Williamson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from David McQuarrie in the 25th minute of play. Stevie Williamson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from David McQuarrie, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpected shot in the 36th minute by Grant Cowan got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. 38 minutes into the match, Fochabers City's goal looked a bit too open when Johnny Ogilvy came free, but Stevie Williamson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 39 minutes into the match, Fochabers City's goalkeeper Stevie Williamson had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Grant Cowan. After a rather tough play, Fochabers City's Gary McCrie got a free kick in the 46th minute. In the 48th minute, David McQuarrie got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Vincent Lyall to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd minute, Henry McCluskie hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Tommy Kinnell didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Matt Aitken went, in the 55th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. After a defensive mix-up in Fochabers City's zone, David McQuarrie stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Stevie Williamson came out of the goal and David McQuarrie tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. David McQuarrie might have been able to make a better finish in the 69th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Stevie Williamson. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. David McQuarrie ran back to his position shaking his head. Stevie Williamson stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Grant Cowan's shot from short distance in the 69th minute. Stevie Williamson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from David McQuarrie in the 70th minute of the match. Grangemouth's Tommy Kinnell played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Vincent Lyall in the 74th minute of play. Grant Cowan scored 1-1 in the 76th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Stevie Williamson, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Grangemouth's Grant Cowan managed to work through Fochabers City's defense and was going for an easy goal, but he hit the shot with his toe and the ball flew outside the goal. Grant Cowan dejectedly held out his arms as if to ask why the ball hadn't gone in. In the 83rd minute, Rick Hossack hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 87th minute of the game. One of Fochabers City:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Grangemouth:s goal. In the 89th minute there was a penalty for Grangemouth. Henry McCluskie stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Stevie Williamson. 2-1. Tommy Kinnell made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Vincent Lyall in the 98th minute of play.
