In the 19th minute, Derek McRurie got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 22nd minute, Ivan Jamieson ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Troy McDuffie was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. Troy McDuffie took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ivan Jamieson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Derek McRurie received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 28th minute. Troy McDuffie tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Ivan Jamieson in the 30th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Troy McDuffie prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 35th minute the ball was on its way in behind Gorbals United's goalkeeper Alistair McInroy, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 36 minutes into the match, Gorbals United's goalkeeper Alistair McInroy had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Shaun Clyne. 41 minutes into the game, Earlston's Shaun Clyne nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Alistair McInroy made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. Earlston's Troy McDuffie played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ivan Jamieson in the 47th minute of play. 49 minutes into the match, Gorbals United's goal looked a bit too open when Alexander McChlerich came free, but Alistair McInroy reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.

Gorbals United's Alistair McInroy played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alexander McChlerich in the 53rd minute of play. After some careless play in the Earlston defense, Derek McRurie kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Troy McDuffie. The Earlston fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Troy McDuffie should have stopped the shot. The audience was convinced that Alexander McChlerich's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Alistair McInroy was relentless in the 59th minute of the game. Earlston's Troy McDuffie played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ivan Jamieson in the 62nd minute of play. Derek McRurie in the 66thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Troy McDuffie, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. After having played for 70 minutes, Derek McRurie managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Gorbals United's supporters crossed their fingers, but Derek McRurie was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Ivan Jamieson received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Troy McDuffie came out and tried to block the shot, but Ivan Jamieson slotted it home off the left post making it 1-3 in the 72nd minute. Ivan Jamieson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 76th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Troy McDuffie having to interfere. If Shaun Clyne had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 79th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Troy McDuffie took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ivan Jamieson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 95th minute of the match, Derek McRurie got a very nice opportunity to score, but Troy McDuffie was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Gorbals United's Ivan Jamieson got a good chance for a goal in the 97th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When the final whistle sounded Gorbals United left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Earlston.
