Spectators: 6774 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1774, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Alexander McChlerich started the match with the kick off. Lucas McComie kicked well hit freekick during the 3rd minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Earlston's Arthur Henderson got a free kick in the 5th minute. Davie Brewster sent away a hard shot on goal in the 8th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. The supporters of Wick booed when Earlston was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 13 match minutes in a wonderful position. Hamish McKilligan didn't get a good kick on the ball. Martin Dunlop fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 16th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Troy McDuffie having to interfere. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Hamish McKilligan during the 28th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Hamish McKilligan hit a great freekick 28 minutes into the match. Alexander McChlerich struck a weak shot in the 34th minute. Nicky McKintosh didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Earlston. Earlston's Shaun Clyne got a good chance for a goal in the 36th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. A collision led to Earlston getting a freekick after 37 minutes play. Henry Dis hit a great ball. When Earlston's Shaun Clyne in the 40th minute got a chance for a shot 40th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Wick's goalie prevented a goal. If Alexander McChlerich had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Martin Dunlop was the one to do the kick off. If Shaun Clyne had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 52nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Alexander McChlerich fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nicky McKintosh having to interfere. The nice shot from Shaun Clyne in the 59thth minute just in front of the goal should have ended in point on the board, but Nicky McKintosh had a great feel for the game and superbly saved the ball from getting in by the left post. In the 63rd minute, Ewan Adie hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Wick's Nicky McKintosh proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 66th minute of the match, managed to save Wick from getting a goal against them. After 68 played minutes Wick got a freekick which was hit by Lucas McComie. Shaun Clyne could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 69th minute of the match, but Nicky McKintosh made a huge save. After some fancy dribbling in the 74th minute, Alexander McChlerich managed to get in a good position for a shot. Earlston's supporters rose to their feet, but Alexander McChlerich was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Nicky McKintosh breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 79 minutes into the game, Martin Dunlop cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-0. Troy McDuffie was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After 81 played minutes Wick got a freekick which was hit by Rod McMonies. The audience was convinced that Davie Brewster's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Troy McDuffie was relentless in the 84th minute of the game. In the 91st minute Rod McMonies shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Troy McDuffie saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Nicky McKintosh made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alexander McChlerich in the 92nd minute of play. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Wick fans cheered their team off the field, for while Earlston had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
