Owen McDermid was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Terence McCoull in the 19th minute of play forced Glasgow Dublins FC's goalkeeper Owen McDermid to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Glasgow Dublins FC's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Terence McCoull 21 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 3-0. Alex Sharp took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 26th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Patrick McMurchie. Johnstone United's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Tim McKimmie's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Patrick McMurchie read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 27th minute of play. In the 28th minute, Theo Munro hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Callum McNeilage had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 32nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 41 minutes had been played when some careless play by Glasgow Dublins FC's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Jonathan McDiarmid was slow to take the kick. During this time Johnstone United's players had a chance to rest. The corner went over the outstretched arms of Glasgow Dublins FC's goalie and right to Arthur Dowe. He fired away a shot at goal, but the shot had too much spin, and it went just outside the goal. Glasgow Dublins FC's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 3-0.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Terence McCoull was the one to do the kick off. A collision led to Glasgow Dublins FC getting a freekick after 54 minutes play. Phillip McLehose hit a great ball. Johnstone United's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Jonathan McDiarmid in the 57th minute. After 58 played minutes Johnstone United got a freekick which was hit by Ray Gillespie. Glasgow Dublins FC's Tim McKimmie got a good chance for a goal in the 61st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 64th minute Terence McCoull shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Owen McDermid saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Terence McCoull sent away a hard shot on goal in the 72nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Callum McNeilage fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 78th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Patrick McMurchie having to interfere. If Timothy Brewster had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 83rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Arthur Dowe kicked well hit freekick during the 85th minute of the match. In the 94thth minute of the game Timothy Brewster who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Glasgow Dublins FC's Owen McDermid was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After a rather tough play, Glasgow Dublins FC's Barry Farquharson got a free kick in the 94th minute. If Terence McCoull had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Johnstone United walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
