Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Craig Corrie took the kick off in the first half of the match. If Neil Ayson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 3rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 9 played minutes Cumnock FC got a freekick which was hit by Patrick Duthie. In the 11th match minute, Berriedale was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rupert McMillan to maneuver through the defense. Berriedale's Andrew Carruthers played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bob Craig in the 12th minute of play. Cumnock FC's Kenneth McRuer proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 19th minute of the match, managed to save Cumnock FC from getting a goal against them. The supporters of Berriedale booed when Cumnock FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 20 match minutes in a wonderful position. Stuart Cole didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 21st minute, Timothy McCanish got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Neil Ayson in the 28th minute of play forced Cumnock FC's goalkeeper Kenneth McRuer to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Berriedale's Neil Ayson in the 30th minute got a chance for a shot 30th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Cumnock FC's goalie prevented a goal. In the 33rd minute Patrick Duthie shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Andrew Carruthers saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Craig Corrie in the 39th minute of play forced Berriedale's goalkeeper Andrew Carruthers to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 40th minute, Stewart McCammond hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Bob Craig took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 41st minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Andrew Carruthers. Berriedale's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. After some careless play in the Berriedale defense, Patrick Duthie kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Andrew Carruthers. The Berriedale fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Andrew Carruthers should have stopped the shot. Craig Corrie fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 46th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Andrew Carruthers having to interfere. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Timothy McCanish to strike the kick off in the second half. When Neil Ayson came up free with the goalie in the 54th minute, the Berriedale fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Neil Ayson couldn't finish the play. In the 58th minute, Charlie Evans ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Andrew Carruthers was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-2. After some fancy dribbling in the 62nd minute, Neil Ayson managed to get in a good position for a shot. Berriedale's supporters rose to their feet, but Neil Ayson was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Kenneth McRuer breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Timothy McCanish sent away a hard shot on goal in the 64th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Neil Ayson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 65th minute. Kenneth McRuer tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Charlie Evans's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Andrew Carruthers firmly grabbed it by the left post. Andrew Carruthers made a fantastic save in the 68th minute, when Charlie Evans sent off a good shot on target. In the 71st minute, Cumnock FC's Craig Corrie dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-3. In the 75th minute Timothy McCanish shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Kenneth McRuer saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 78 minutes into the match, Cumnock FC's goal looked a bit too open when Timothy McCanish came free, but Kenneth McRuer reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 80th match minute, Cumnock FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Craig Corrie to maneuver through the defense. Neil Ayson took the ball and in the 82 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Kenneth McRuer. Kenneth McRuer dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-3. If Neil Ayson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Patrick Duthie fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 93rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Andrew Carruthers having to interfere. Cumnock FC were delighted with the way they had won the match. They had held their defensive line well and made the most of their chances, to claim a victory over Berriedale's much stronger midfield.
