Spectators: 6774 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1774, VIP seats: 0) Cumnock FC's Craig Corrie started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Craig Corrie received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 3rd minute. Bruce McWhirr tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Adrian McKissock charged in rather forcefully in the 4th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Adrian McKissock the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Halkirk getting a freekick after 4 minutes play. Adrian McKissock hit a great ball. Craig Corrie blasted a shot towards the goal in the 11th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Bruce McWhirr having to make a save. Patrick Duthie received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 16th minute. Bruce McWhirr tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 17th match minute, Halkirk was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jason McPetrie to maneuver through the defense. When the match had gone on for 18 minutes, Patrick Duthie took a quick shot and it went in 1-0 without a chance for Bruce McWhirr to make any attempt to save it. 26 minutes into the match, Halkirk's goal looked a bit too open when Craig Corrie came free, but Bruce McWhirr reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With an all-out effort, Cumnock FC's Bruce McWhirr threw himself towards the right post 29 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Craig Corrie, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Patrick Duthie fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 30th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bruce McWhirr having to interfere. Joshua Duilach sent away a hard shot on goal in the 38th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Joshua Duilach recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 41st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Ter McLise took the ball and in the 46 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Kenneth McRuer. Kenneth McRuer dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Joshua Duilach to make the kick off. Bruce McWhirr took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Patrick Duthie, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 53 played minutes Halkirk got a freekick which was hit by Jason McPetrie. Bruce McWhirr showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Craig Corrie in the 55th minute of the match. Halkirk's Joshua Duilach got a good chance for a goal in the 61st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After having played for 70 minutes, Ter McLise managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Halkirk's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ter McLise was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Craig Corrie fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 77th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bruce McWhirr having to interfere. 81 minutes into the match, Halkirk's goal looked a bit too open when Patrick Duthie came free, but Bruce McWhirr reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 84 minutes into the match, Halkirk's goal looked a bit too open when Craig Corrie came free, but Bruce McWhirr reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ter McLise fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 98th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kenneth McRuer having to interfere. For all the effort they put into the match, the Halkirk players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Cumnock FC.
