Patrick Wright made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Norman McLaverty in the 23rd minute of play. 29 minutes into the match, Castle Rock Blue Knights's goal looked a bit too open when Ronald Appleby came free, but Patrick Wright reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Patrick Wright showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. After having played for 32 minutes, Norman McLaverty managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Doune's supporters crossed their fingers, but Norman McLaverty was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Nicholas Weaver fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 35th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without John Gardiner having to interfere. Larry Casey charged in rather forcefully in the 38th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Larry Casey the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Doune getting a freekick after 38 minutes play. Larry Casey hit a great ball. Ronald Appleby received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. In the 48th minute the ball was on its way in behind Castle Rock Blue Knights's goalkeeper Patrick Wright, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Danny McEachan made the kick off in the second half. Patrick Wright made an important save on a dangerous shot by Ronald Appleby in the 56th minute. Patrick Wright came out of the goal and Benjamin Lamont tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 81 minutes in the game, the ball went up into the seats when Doune's Norman McLaverty fired away a shot that was just a little bit too high. He walked away shaking his head. After 83 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Castle Rock Blue Knights! In the 89th minute the ball was on its way in behind Doune's goalkeeper John Gardiner, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Patrick Wright was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Norman McLaverty showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 0-3 in the 91 minute of play. Benjamin Lamont sent away a hard shot on goal in the 97th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Charles McRory fell near the penalty area in the 98th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Castle Rock Blue Knights's protests and gave Charles McRory a yellow card for diving instead. In the 98th match minute, Castle Rock Blue Knights was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Charles McRory to maneuver through the defense. Norman McLaverty sent away a hard shot on goal in the 99th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. When the match was over Doune could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Castle Rock Blue Knights throughout the match.
