The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. If Barry Broom had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 5th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Norman McKinning didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 10th minute, which inside left pole to 1-0. Jeremy McVey received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 17th minute. Keith Alistair tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The corner led BASXTHER UNITED FC's Gavin Archibald to fire away a dangerous shot which Norman McKinning despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. In the 23rd minute, Jeremy McVey hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Jeremy McVey received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 26th minute. Keith Alistair tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Banff's Barry Broom in the 29th minute got a chance for a shot 29th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye BASXTHER UNITED FC's goalie prevented a goal. 36 minutes into the game, Gary Dawson was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Banff's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave BASXTHER UNITED FC the free kick. After a rather tough play, Banff's Gary Dawson got a free kick in the 37th minute. Darren McGilroy was extremely unlucky when he, in the 39th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. Stephen Greenlaw's late challenge caught a Banff's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Stephen Greenlaw helped the player get up and apologised. Stephen Greenlaw hit a great freekick 45 minutes into the match. BASXTHER UNITED FC's Keith Alistair played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alexander Hudson in the 47th minute of play.

Norman McTause recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 58th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 63rd minute, Barry Broom managed to get in a good position for a shot. Banff's supporters rose to their feet, but Barry Broom was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Keith Alistair breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 69th minute Barry Broom shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Keith Alistair saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 73rd minute BASXTHER UNITED FC were awarded a corner. Gavin Archibald went to the cornerflag to take it. A nice corner shot did that Gavin Archibald got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Norman McKinning quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Norman McKinning showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Norman McTause, who was totally free with the ball in the 79th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 89th minute, Gary Dawson managed to get in a good position for a shot. Banff's supporters rose to their feet, but Gary Dawson was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Keith Alistair breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Norman McTause had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. For all the effort they put into the match, the Banff players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for BASXTHER UNITED FC.
