Spectators: 6800 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1800, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Terence McLugash started the match with the kick off. In the 4th minute of the match Freddie Hutcheson shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Munro Yuille showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Nick Harperson charged in rather forcefully in the 6th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Nick Harperson the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Les McHardy walked up to take care of the penalty kick. He was aiming for the top corner, but the ball went just outside the post. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Terence McLugash in the 12th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jack McShimes saved Stornoway FC from getting behind. When Ricky McGilledon fell near the penalty area in the 16th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Biggar's protests and gave Ricky McGilledon a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Stornoway FC booed when Biggar was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 16 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ricky McGilledon didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 17th minute Norman Davies shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Munro Yuille saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Munro Yuille showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from John Hughson, who was totally free with the ball in the 21st minute. If Terence McLugash had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 23rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 24th minute, Phillip Rome made a precise shot to the right of Jack McShimes. Stornoway FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-0. After a rather tough play, Stornoway FC's Richard McNeish got a free kick in the 27th minute. Nick Harperson made a great header on Biggar's corner, it was just that Stornoway FC's Jack McShimes managed to reach the ball for a save. 31 minutes into the game, Terence McLugash recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Jack McShimes. Terence McLugash showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by John Hughson in the 35th minute of play forced Biggar's goalkeeper Munro Yuille to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 37th minute, Norman Davies got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

If John Hughson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 56th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jack McShimes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Phillip Rome in the 60th minute of play. After 62 played minutes, Stornoway FC's Les McHardy shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Munro Yuille came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Stornoway FC reached it. After some fancy dribbling in the 68th minute, John Hughson managed to get in a good position for a shot. Stornoway FC's supporters rose to their feet, but John Hughson was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Munro Yuille breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a rather tough play, Biggar's Ricky McGilledon got a free kick in the 72nd minute. The crowd rose to their feet as Stornoway FC's John Hughson slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Munro Yuille. That made the score 2-1 after 73 minutes of play. Norman Davies's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Munro Yuille read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 79th minute of play. Ricky McGilledon received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 85th minute. Jack McShimes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Phillip Rome had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 89th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Phillip Rome came up free with the goalie in the 92nd minute, the Biggar fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Phillip Rome couldn't finish the play. Jack McShimes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Terence McLugash in the 93rd minute of play. Biggar's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
