Spectators: 6800 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1800, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Barry Boon started the match with the kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Wally McCrindle in the 3rd minute of play forced Inverurie City's goalkeeper Matt Barrie to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Phillip McBaxter succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 1-0 in the 7th playminute. When the match had gone on for 24 minutes, Phillip McBaxter put it in 2-0 from a short distance just to the right of Kyle Doles. In the 29th minute of the match, Barry Boon tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Kyle Doles saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Phillip McBaxter received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 31st minute. Kyle Doles tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Phillip McBaxter had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. David Coulthart blasted a shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Matt Barrie having to make a save. Matt Barrie showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Wally McCrindle in the 45th minute of the match. Phillip McBaxter sent away a hard shot on goal in the 46th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Wally McCrindle stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 51 minutes into the game, Adam Acton was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Rangers F.C.'s manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Inverurie City the free kick. 57 minutes into the match, Inverurie City's goal looked a bit too open when Wally McCrindle came free, but Matt Barrie reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Wally McCrindle received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 61st minute. Matt Barrie tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Phillip McBaxter struck a weak shot in the 68th minute. Kyle Doles didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Inverurie City. Wally McCrindle sent away a hard shot on goal in the 74th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If David Coulthart had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Matt Barrie showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Wally McCrindle in the 79th minute of the match. After having played for 82 minutes, Barry Boon managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Inverurie City's supporters crossed their fingers, but Barry Boon was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Jay Austin was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 87th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. In the 90th minute, Barry Boon got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Rangers F.C.'s zone, Barry Boon stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Kyle Doles came out of the goal and Barry Boon tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Kyle Doles stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Barry Boon's shot from short distance in the 95th minute. There was no doubt that Inverurie City were the better team. Inverurie City's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
