The supporters of Darvel City booed when Cairndow AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 36 match minutes in a wonderful position. Harry McLean didn't get a good kick on the ball. Cairndow AFC's Tyler McAchounich got a good chance for a goal in the 42nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Robert Tawse sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After the first half Cairndow AFC were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell John McMurray to make the kick off. After 52 played minutes Darvel City got a freekick which was hit by Tommy Gardner. Larry Docharty took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from John McMurray, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 61st match minute, Darvel City was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Brian McCaa to maneuver through the defense. After a rather tough play, Cairndow AFC's Callum McMaster got a free kick in the 66th minute. When Edmond Crawford fell near the penalty area in the 76th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Darvel City's protests and gave Edmond Crawford a yellow card for diving instead. In the 76th minute, Edmond Crawford hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 77 minutes into the match, Darvel City's goalkeeper Larry Docharty had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Tyler McAchounich. Larry Docharty showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from John McMurray, who was totally free with the ball in the 78th minute. If Vincent McNeilage had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 81st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 83rd minute, Harry McLean hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The referee gave Darvel City a penalty, 89 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Bruce Bell, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Cairndow AFC's Vinny McCook. 1-3. Larry Docharty showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from John McMurray in the 98th minute of the match.
