Vincent McNeilage sent away a hard shot on goal in the 7th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Vincent McNeilage fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 9th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jake Blake having to interfere. Robert Tawse received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 10th minute. Jake Blake tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Jake Blake made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Robert Tawse in the 13th minute of play. In the 13th match minute, Westhill was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Shaun McCalman to maneuver through the defense. Roy Lombard sent away a hard shot on goal in the 19th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Wal McCamie in the 21st minute of play forced Darvel City's goalkeeper Larry Docharty to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 24th minute, Robert Tawse ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Jake Blake was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. In the 28th match minute, Darvel City was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Brian McCaa to maneuver through the defense. With a little luck, Darvel City's Larry Docharty got control of the ball when Roy Lombard tried to sneak it across the goal line. Darvel City's Larry Docharty played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Wal McCamie in the 36th minute of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Gus McNee during the 38th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 38 played minutes Westhill got a freekick which was hit by Gus McNee. The supporters of Darvel City booed when Westhill was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 41 match minutes in a wonderful position. Shaun McCalman didn't get a good kick on the ball. Vincent McNeilage struck a weak shot in the 46th minute. Jake Blake didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Darvel City. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

The wind increased when Vincent McNeilage made the kick off in the second half. Jake Blake was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Robert Tawse showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 0-2 in the 52 minute of play. After 55 minutes of play Westhill's Gus McNee was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. In the 56th minute, Gus McNee hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Bruce Bell took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 56th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Jake Blake. Westhill's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. When Brian McCaa came up free with the goalie in the 58th minute, the Darvel City fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Brian McCaa couldn't finish the play. Vincent McNeilage blasted a shot towards the goal in the 60th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Jake Blake having to make a save. Shaun McCalman's late challenge caught a Darvel City's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Shaun McCalman helped the player get up and apologised. Shaun McCalman hit a great freekick 66 minutes into the match. A hard shot 68 in the game by Robert Tawse from a close distance when the talented Jake Blake managed to make a qualified save. Westhill's players were relieved. If Roy Lombard had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 72nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 74 minutes, Vincent McNeilage managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Darvel City's supporters crossed their fingers, but Vincent McNeilage was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Jake Blake took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Vincent McNeilage, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 76 minutes into the match, Vincent McNeilage notched a goal, 0-3, to the right of Westhill's Jake Blake. Jake Blake was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Roy Lombard fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 83rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Larry Docharty having to interfere. Wal Hewitson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 85th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The referee gave Westhill a penalty, 91 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Gary Barbour, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Darvel City's Larry Docharty. 1-3. The Darvel City supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Darvel City would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
