Stephen Forbes might have been able to make a better finish in the 9th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over George McTear. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Stephen Forbes ran back to his position shaking his head. Stephen Forbes blasted a shot towards the goal in the 11th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without George McTear having to make a save. Stephen Forbes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 13th minute. George McTear tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Stephen Forbes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 15th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Ciaran McDulothe fell near the penalty area in the 19th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Aston Villa F.C.'s protests and gave Ciaran McDulothe a yellow card for diving instead. In the 25th minute, Stonehaven's Barry Stenhouse dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-0. 31 minutes into the match, Aston Villa F.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Barry Stenhouse came free, but Stuart McLergain reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 60th minute, Phil Gallie got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 61st match minute, Aston Villa F.C. was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Steven Andrews to maneuver through the defense. After 62 minutes of play, Stonehaven's Barry Stenhouse made it 2-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Stuart McLergain showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Phil Gallie in the 85th minute of the match. In the 87th minute of the match Stonehaven got a corner. Aston Villa F.C.'s goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Duncan Hawson ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner ended in Evan Boyes almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Aston Villa F.C.'s Stuart McLergain did a great save. David McKenzie's late challenge caught a Aston Villa F.C.'s player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. David McKenzie helped the player get up and apologised. The second half was just like the first, even and exciting. The match ended in a draw.
