But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Nigel Greenlaw couldn't finish the play. In a very dangerous position, a player in Freshwater fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 26th minute. Penalty! Kenneth Donaldson walked up to take care of the penalty kick. He was aiming for the top corner, but the ball went just outside the post. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alisdair McFeat in the 29th minute of play forced Biggar's goalkeeper Douglas McQuarrie to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Gareth Archibald had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Freshwater booed when Biggar was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 36 match minutes in a wonderful position. Graeme McLachlan didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 39th minute, Joseph Spittel made a precise shot to the right of Douglas McQuarrie. Biggar's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-0. Les McLymont showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nigel Greenlaw in the 57th minute of the match. With a little luck, Freshwater's Les McLymont got control of the ball when Les Adie tried to sneak it across the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Freshwater's zone, Nigel Greenlaw stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Les McLymont came out of the goal and Nigel Greenlaw tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Nigel Greenlaw fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 70th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Les McLymont having to interfere. When Alisdair McFeat came up free with the goalie in the 72nd minute, the Freshwater fans jumped to their feet. In the 76th minute Gareth Archibald shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Douglas McQuarrie saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 83rd minute, Alisdair McFeat got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 87th minute, Nigel Greenlaw got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Nigel Greenlaw sent away a hard shot on goal in the 89th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Alisdair McFeat fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 97th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Douglas McQuarrie having to interfere.
