The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After a rather tough play, Harris United's Roy Colyear got a free kick in the 2nd minute. Thomas McKinnell could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 6th minute of the match, but Eric McKindlay made a huge save. After some careless play in the Harris United defense, Angus McGilvray kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Timmy McMaster. The Harris United fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Timmy McMaster should have stopped the shot. Thomas McKinnell's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 22ndth minute, Eric McKindlay skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. In the 26th minute, Rod McKinnell hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Thomas McKinnell fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Eric McKindlay having to interfere. In the 29th minute Graeme Meine shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Eric McKindlay saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Graeme Meine recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 31st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Thomas McKinnell sent away a hard shot on goal in the 37th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Oliver McUlric's late challenge caught a Harris United's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Oliver McUlric helped the player get up and apologised. In the 40th minute, Oliver McUlric hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Graeme Meine had several of the Glasgow Hornet Killers's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 46 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 1-1 score and a disappointed Eric McKindlay as he didn't even see the shot coming. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

Thomas McKinnell sent away a hard shot on goal in the 53rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Frank McElheran fell near the penalty area in the 54th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Glasgow Hornet Killers's protests and gave Frank McElheran a yellow card for diving instead. In the 54th minute, Frank McElheran hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Glasgow Hornet Killers's Tim Lair got a good chance for a goal in the 60th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After some fancy dribbling in the 61st minute, Angus McGilvray managed to get in a good position for a shot. Glasgow Hornet Killers's supporters rose to their feet, but Angus McGilvray was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Timmy McMaster breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Thomas McKinnell had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 68th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 77th minute, Thomas McKinnell got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Graeme Meine in the 84th minute of play forced Glasgow Hornet Killers's goalkeeper Eric McKindlay to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Eric McKindlay made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Graeme Meine in the 88th minute of play. In the 93rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Glasgow Hornet Killers's goalkeeper Eric McKindlay, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar.
