Spectators: 6777 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1777, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Rory Gilespie kicked off to start the match. In the 4thth minute of the game Wal Philipson who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Airdrie FC's John McRaild was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 4th minute, Nicholas McIlzegowie hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 5th minute Wal Philipson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but John McRaild saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Kenneth McDaid had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 7th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Joseph Cleland received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 15th minute. Stewart McLardie tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Dunbar AFC's zone, Rory Gilespie stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Stewart McLardie came out of the goal and Rory Gilespie tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 23rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Airdrie FC's goalkeeper John McRaild, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. When Bob McNey fell near the penalty area in the 34th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Dunbar AFC's protests and gave Bob McNey a yellow card for diving instead. Bob McNey hit a great freekick 34 minutes into the match. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Wal Philipson to make the kick off. Bob McNey got his second yellow card in the match during the 53rd minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. Bob McNey kicked well hit freekick during the 54th minute of the match. John McRaild made a fantastic save in the 56th minute, when Kenneth McDaid sent off a good shot on target. Rory Gilespie scored 2-0 in the 65th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Stewart McLardie, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Kenneth McDaid struck a weak shot in the 71st minute. John McRaild didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Dunbar AFC. Stewart McLardie showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Joseph Cleland, who was totally free with the ball in the 75th minute. After 76 played minutes Airdrie FC got a freekick which was hit by Graham Lucas. Kenneth McDaid sent away a hard shot on goal in the 78th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After having played for 84 minutes, Shane Davison managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Dunbar AFC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Shane Davison was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Airdrie FC's zone, Kenneth McDaid stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. John McRaild came out of the goal and Kenneth McDaid tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Wal Philipson blasted a shot towards the goal in the 90th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without John McRaild having to make a save. Stewart McLardie showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Joseph Cleland in the 97th minute of the match. Airdrie FC's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
