Spectators: 6806 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1806, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Tommy McDonnell kicked off to start the match. Taylor Tosh charged in rather forcefully in the 5th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Taylor Tosh the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 5th match minute, Tranent was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Taylor Tosh to maneuver through the defense. If Jay McVean had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 8th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in Gairloch's zone, Simon McLeish stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Greig Armstrong came out of the goal and Simon McLeish tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The audience was convinced that Tommy McDonnell's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Tommy McNiter was relentless in the 12th minute of the game. In the 15th match minute, Tranent was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Taylor Tosh to maneuver through the defense. Charles Hewitt took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 15th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Tommy McNiter. Tranent's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. In the 18th match minute, Gairloch was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tommy McDonnell to maneuver through the defense. The supporters of Tranent booed when Gairloch was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 22 match minutes in a wonderful position. Mark Mein didn't get a good kick on the ball. 26 minutes into the match, Jake Daniels had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Greig Armstrong. Gairloch's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Jake Daniels was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Tommy McDonnell in the 30th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Tommy McNiter prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Phil Grewar received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 31st minute. Tommy McNiter tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Tommy McDonnell fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 35th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tommy McNiter having to interfere. Tommy McNiter showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tommy McDonnell in the 38th minute of the match. If Phil Grewar had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 47th minute, Jay McVean managed to get in a good position for a shot. Tranent's supporters rose to their feet, but Jay McVean was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Greig Armstrong breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

After a rather tough play, Gairloch's Keith McNab got a free kick in the 54th minute. Phil Grewar received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 60th minute. Tommy McNiter tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Tommy McNiter made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tommy McDonnell in the 63rd minute of play. If Tommy McDonnell had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 67th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Euan Hewitt hit a great freekick 68 minutes into the match. Phil Grewar struck a weak shot in the 69th minute. Tommy McNiter didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Gairloch. Simon McLeish hit a great freekick 70 minutes into the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Tommy McDonnell in the 71st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Tommy McNiter saved Tranent from getting behind. After some fancy dribbling in the 72nd minute, Jay McVean managed to get in a good position for a shot. Tranent's supporters rose to their feet, but Jay McVean was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Greig Armstrong breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 73 minutes into the game, Mark Mein was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Gairloch's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Tranent the free kick. After a rather tough play, Gairloch's Mark Mein got a free kick in the 73rd minute. In the 79th match minute, Gairloch was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Anthony McWhannell to maneuver through the defense. Jay McVean fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 81st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Greig Armstrong having to interfere. Tommy McNiter showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Phil Grewar, who was totally free with the ball in the 87th minute. 90 minutes into the match, Tranent's goal looked a bit too open when Tommy McDonnell came free, but Tommy McNiter reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Gairloch's Tommy McDonnell got a good chance for a goal in the 91st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Tranent's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
