FC Barcelona's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Lucas Young was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Gavin Lennie in the 40th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Harry Wharrie saved Halkirk AFC from getting behind. The FC Barcelona fans' excitement grew in the 40th match minute when FC Barcelona's Gavin Lennie looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-2 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Richard Denoon took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Duncan Richardson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Lucas Young had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Gavin Lennie was the one to do the kick off. Lucas Young received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 55th minute. Richard Denoon tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Harry Wharrie took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gavin Lennie, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The supporters of Halkirk AFC booed when FC Barcelona was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 60 match minutes in a wonderful position. Mike Connor didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a defensive mix-up in FC Barcelona's zone, Duncan Richardson stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Richard Denoon came out of the goal and Duncan Richardson tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Lucas Young's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Richard Denoon read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 63rd minute of play. Richard Denoon showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Duncan Richardson, who was totally free with the ball in the 67th minute. Innes McFie kicked well hit freekick during the 67th minute of the match. Mike Connor sent away a hard shot on goal in the 74th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Steve Crombie hit a great freekick 77 minutes into the match. When Duncan Richardson came up free with the goalie in the 81st minute, the Halkirk AFC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Duncan Richardson couldn't finish the play. The crowd rose to their feet as Duncan Richardson kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Richard Denoon. That made the score 1-3 in the 84 minute of play. In the last second Richard Denoon throw himself and got hold of the ball when Duncan Richardson in the 89thth minute from his position got away a shot towards the right post. When Phil Arthur fell near the penalty area in the 90th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored FC Barcelona's protests and gave Phil Arthur a yellow card for diving instead. After 90 played minutes FC Barcelona got a freekick which was hit by Phil Arthur. Gavin Lennie recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 96th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Halkirk AFC had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
