Spectators: 6782 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1782, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Simon Fox got the match started through his kick off. In the 4th minute, Peter McNaughton sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Golspie's Ronald Forsyth didn't even have to move. 7 minutes into the match, Simon Fox notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Golspie's Ronald Forsyth. Ronald Forsyth was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Alex Dinwoodie charged in rather forcefully in the 9th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Alex Dinwoodie the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Golspie's Alex Dinwoodie got a free kick in the 10th minute. Alex Dinwoodie sent away a hard shot on goal in the 12th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Ron Ure's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Murray Haws read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 13th minute of play. Davie Wallace's late challenge caught a Golspie's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Davie Wallace helped the player get up and apologised. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 14th minute of the game. One of Bellshill:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Golspie:s goal. Simon Fox sent away a hard shot on goal in the 26th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Rob Grewar fell near the penalty area in the 34th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Golspie's protests and gave Rob Grewar a yellow card for diving instead. Rob Grewar hit a great freekick 34 minutes into the match. Ter Foster kicked well hit freekick during the 37th minute of the match. Kenny Niven received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 38th minute. Ronald Forsyth tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Simon Fox had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.

When Golspie's Ron Ure in the 53rd minute got a chance for a shot 53rd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Bellshill's goalie prevented a goal. John Tolmie could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 57th minute of the match, but Ronald Forsyth made a huge save. After a rather tough play, Bellshill's Davie Wallace got a free kick in the 58th minute. When Ron Ure came up free with the goalie in the 62nd minute, the Golspie fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ron Ure couldn't finish the play. A collision led to Golspie getting a freekick after 64 minutes play. Rob Grewar hit a great ball. Ron Ure's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Murray Haws read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 71st minute of play. In the 76th minute Simon Fox shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ronald Forsyth saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Murray Haws took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alex Dinwoodie, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After having played for 80 minutes, Simon Fox managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Bellshill's supporters crossed their fingers, but Simon Fox was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Golspie's Ronald Forsyth proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 88th minute of the match, managed to save Golspie from getting a goal against them. When Kenny Niven came up free with the goalie in the 91st minute, the Bellshill fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Kenny Niven couldn't finish the play. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
