An unexpectedly hard shot by Owen Currie in the 20th minute of play forced Stranraer's goalkeeper Iain McCansh to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Owen Currie fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Iain McCansh having to interfere. Davie McCoull struck a weak shot in the 23rd minute. Kyle Dowe didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Stranraer. With a little luck, Banff's Kyle Dowe got control of the ball when Kenneth McPhadden tried to sneak it across the goal line. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

If Theo McGeoch had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After 66 played minutes Banff got a freekick which was hit by Owen Currie. Theo McGeoch could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 73rd minute of the match, but Iain McCansh made a huge save. After 73 minutes, Dougal McGuaran mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Stranraer and the Banff players grew even worse after the yellow card. Stranraer's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
