Seating: 1778, VIP seats: 154) Galashiels FC's Andy Baxter started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Martin McKersey's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 6thth minute, Elliot Forrister skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Andy Baxter sent away a hard shot on goal in the 8th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 10th minute Stevie Connall shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Reece Beaton saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Reece Beaton took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Andy Baxter, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Andy Baxter sent away a hard shot on goal in the 13th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Stevie Connall had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 16th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Chris Fleming fell near the penalty area in the 17th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Rangers FC's protests and gave Chris Fleming a yellow card for diving instead. In the 17th match minute, Rangers FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Chris Fleming to maneuver through the defense. Stevie Connall fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Reece Beaton having to interfere. Stevie Connall received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 32nd minute. Reece Beaton tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 35 minutes into the match, Andy Baxter had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Reece Beaton. Rangers FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Andy Baxter was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. With 40 minutes on the clock, Euan McErracher commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. 49 minutes into the match, Rangers FC's goal looked a bit too open when Andy Baxter came free, but Reece Beaton reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Martin McKersey stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Stevie Connall received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 56th minute. Reece Beaton tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Stevie Connall sent away a hard shot on goal in the 57th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Andy Baxter couldn't finish the play. Andy Baxter sent away a hard shot on goal in the 81st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The audience thought a goal was coming when Stevie Connall got free with Reece Beaton in the 87th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When Andy Baxter came up free with the goalie in the 88th minute, the Galashiels FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Andy Baxter couldn't finish the play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Andy Baxter in the 95th minute of play forced Rangers FC's goalkeeper Reece Beaton to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Andy Baxter's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Reece Beaton read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 97th minute of play. Galashiels FC's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
