The referee ignored Cockburnspath's protests and gave Freddie McAuslane a yellow card for diving instead. After 34 played minutes Cockburnspath got a freekick which was hit by Freddie McAuslane. When Nathan Gowan came up free with the goalie in the 37th minute, the Cockburnspath fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Nathan Gowan couldn't finish the play. Malcolm Duthie made a fantastic save in the 42nd minute, when Stuart Hawthorn sent off a good shot on target. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Roddie Lindsay made a kick off. Malcolm Duthie showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Roddie Lindsay in the 55th minute of the match. Tim Wilkinson came out of the goal and Tommy Webster tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Tommy Webster received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 87th minute. Tim Wilkinson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 88 minutes into the match, Stornoway United's goal looked a bit too open when Stuart Hawthorn came free, but Malcolm Duthie reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Stuart Hawthorn came up free with the goalie in the 91st minute, the Cockburnspath fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Stuart Hawthorn couldn't finish the play. Malcolm Duthie took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Roddie Lindsay, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Stuart Hawthorn had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
