The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 8th minute of the match Harold Grier sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Josh McSween skillfully saved the ball. 10 minutes into the match, Ballater's goal looked a bit too open when Vinny McKirdy came free, but Joseph McQuistan reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience was convinced that Nathan Russell's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Josh McSween was relentless in the 12th minute of the game. Josh McSween took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nathan Russell, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. George Buckley came free with the goalkeeper in the 23rd minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Josh McSween could save by the left post. In the 41st minute of the match Greg McLairish sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Josh McSween skillfully saved the ball. George Buckley received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 43rd minute. Josh McSween tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 46 minutes into the match, Goal Keepers Academy's goal looked a bit too open when Nathan Russell came free, but Josh McSween reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 48th minute, George Buckley ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Josh McSween was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-0. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Vinny McKirdy fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 62nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Joseph McQuistan having to interfere. A collision led to Goal Keepers Academy getting a freekick after 66 minutes play. Anthony McCanish hit a great ball. If Vinny McKirdy had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 72nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. George Buckley's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Josh McSween read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 75th minute of play. Goal Keepers Academy's Josh McSween played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nathan Russell in the 80th minute of play. 85 minutes into the game, Nathan Russell cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 4-0. Josh McSween was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Vinny McKirdy sent away a hard shot on goal in the 94th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Tim Crossley hit a great freekick 98 minutes into the match. Goal Keepers Academy's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
