Ross Edie fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nicol Carter having to interfere. In the 47th minute the ball was on its way in behind Troon AFC's goalkeeper Nicol Carter, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Sean Ogilvie to strike the kick off in the second half. Frank McKessock charged in rather forcefully in the 60th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Frank McKessock the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Wick's Frank McKessock got a free kick in the 60th minute. Greg McCowan had several of the Wick's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 68 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 0-1 score and a disappointed Charlie Combie as he didn't even see the shot coming. Sean Ogilvie recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 74th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Nicol Carter took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sean Ogilvie, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 74 minutes into the match, Sean Ogilvie had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Nicol Carter. Troon AFC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Sean Ogilvie was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. The supporters of Wick booed when Troon AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 76 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gregor Charles didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 80thth minute of the game Sean Ogilvie who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Troon AFC's Nicol Carter was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Jim Forrister fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 88th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Charlie Combie having to interfere. Charlie Combie took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Greg McCowan, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Greg McCowan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 92nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Greg McCowan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 94th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Charlie Combie having to interfere. Charlie Combie was out of position in the 96 minute of play, and Greg McCowan capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Greg McCowan really showed his touch with that goal: 1-2. Troon AFC's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
