After a defensive mix-up in Troon AFC's zone, Larry McCorkindale stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Nicol Carter came out of the goal and Larry McCorkindale tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 15th minute, Greg McCowan managed to get in a good position for a shot. Troon AFC's supporters rose to their feet, but Greg McCowan was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Lucas McGeachie breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 19 minutes into the match, Bowmore AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Jim Forrister came free, but Lucas McGeachie reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Lucas McGeachie didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Greg McCowan went, in the 19th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. 22 minutes into the game, Ivan McWhirter was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Bowmore AFC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Troon AFC the free kick. Ivan McWhirter hit a great freekick 22 minutes into the match. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

Donald Coulson's late challenge caught a Bowmore AFC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Bowmore AFC's Euan Masterson got a good chance for a goal in the 59th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Euan Masterson couldn't finish the play. The Bowmore AFC fans' excitement grew in the 76th match minute when Bowmore AFC's Larry McCorkindale looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. The crowd rose to their feet as Greg McCowan kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Lucas McGeachie. That made the score 1-2 in the 80 minute of play. Greg McCowan sent away a hard shot on goal in the 83rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Lucas McGeachie made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Greg McCowan in the 88th minute of play. Both teams had looked equal from kick-off, and no-one was surprised when the match finally ended in a draw.
