Spectators: 6783 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1783, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Raymond Byers got the match started through his kick off. Iron Islands FC's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Rick Smith 3 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 1-0. In the 5th match minute, Campbeltown City was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Frankie Castle to maneuver through the defense. The crowd rose to their feet as Rick Smith kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Ronan Cumming. That made the score 2-0 in the 8 minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Hamish Appleton got free with Ronan Cumming in the 13th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Wayne McPhedron sent away a hard shot on goal in the 15th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Campbeltown City's Rick Smith got a good chance for a goal in the 17th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 25th minute of the match Derek McOurlic shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Peter McHarold showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. If Hamish Appleton had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 28th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Danny McGeachie hit a great freekick 29 minutes into the match. Rick Smith received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 32nd minute. Ronan Cumming tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Campbeltown City booed when Iron Islands FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 34 match minutes in a wonderful position. Danny McGeachie didn't get a good kick on the ball. Hamish Appleton fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 35th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ronan Cumming having to interfere. 39 minutes into the game, Campbeltown City's Rick Smith nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Ronan Cumming made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-0. In the 42nd minute, Campbeltown City's Hamish Appleton dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 4-0. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 4-0 at half-time.

Ronan Cumming showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Hamish Appleton, who was totally free with the ball in the 52nd minute. After a defensive mix-up in Iron Islands FC's zone, Rick Smith stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ronan Cumming came out of the goal and Rick Smith tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Peter McHarold made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Raymond Byers in the 60th minute of play. Peter McHarold made an important save on a dangerous shot by Nicky Gibson in the 62nd minute. 63 minutes into the game, Brian Askey was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Campbeltown City's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Iron Islands FC the free kick. After 63 played minutes Campbeltown City got a freekick which was hit by Brian Askey. A collision led to Campbeltown City getting a freekick after 66 minutes play. Wayne McPhedron hit a great ball. After recieving a nice pass, Iron Islands FC's Frankie McMurrich tried to score from far away in the 67th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Peter McHarold took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Raymond Byers, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 71 minutes into the match, Raymond Byers dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Peter McHarold, 4-1. Nicky Gibson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 74th minute. Peter McHarold tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Peter McHarold made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Raymond Byers in the 80th minute of play. Raymond Byers sent away a hard shot on goal in the 82nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Nicky Gibson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 83rd minute. Peter McHarold tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 85th minute of the match, Nicky Gibson got a very nice opportunity to score, but Peter McHarold was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Malcolm Malcolm charged in rather forcefully in the 87th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Malcolm Malcolm the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Malcolm Malcolm hit a great freekick 87 minutes into the match. If Hamish Appleton had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 90th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Rick Smith's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Ronan Cumming read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 94th minute of play. Iron Islands FC's Nicky Gibson got a good chance for a goal in the 96th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar.
