In the 26th minute Grant Sinclair shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nigel Doles saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Larry McCeallaich sent away a hard shot on goal in the 35th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Dalbeattie City's Grant Sinclair in the 39th minute got a chance for a shot 39th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Latheron United's goalie prevented a goal. After having played for 46 minutes, Larry McCeallaich managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Latheron United's supporters crossed their fingers, but Larry McCeallaich was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After the first half Latheron United were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Nigel Doles made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Liam McBeth in the 52nd minute of play. Grant Sinclair's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Nigel Doles read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 53rd minute of play. Ronald O'Shannaig didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 55th minute, which inside left pole to 0-2. Greg Collier fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 63rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ronald O'Shannaig having to interfere. When Larry McCeallaich came up free with the goalie in the 78th minute, the Latheron United fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Larry McCeallaich couldn't finish the play. After 79 minutes, Larry McCeallaich mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Latheron United and the Dalbeattie City players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 80 played minutes Latheron United got a freekick which was hit by Larry McCeallaich. Larry McCeallaich fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 91st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ronald O'Shannaig having to interfere. Ronald O'Shannaig didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 93rd minute, which inside left pole to 0-5. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Latheron United eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
