The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Robert Binnie showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Martin Robinson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Malcolm McHugh, who was totally free with the ball in the 30th minute. Darren McAlister sent away a hard shot on goal in the 33rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Munro O'Shaig fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Robert Binnie having to interfere. Malcolm McHugh received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 43rd minute. Martin Robinson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Malcolm McHugh fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 46th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Martin Robinson having to interfere. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Malcolm McHugh was the one to do the kick off. Malcolm McHugh was extremely unlucky when he, in the 57th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. Gavin Scott hit a great freekick 60 minutes into the match. Elliot McIlzegowie recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 61st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 67 minutes into the match, Bathgate's goal looked a bit too open when Malcolm McHugh came free, but Martin Robinson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Gavin Scott kicked well hit freekick during the 69th minute of the match. After 72 minutes Bathgate's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Neil McKintosh who took care of the corner kick. The corner ended in Neil McKintosh almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Bathgate's Martin Robinson did a great save. Darren McAlister struck a weak shot in the 78th minute. Robert Binnie didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Bathgate. In the 82nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Bathgate's goalkeeper Martin Robinson, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Darvel FC's Robert Binnie played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Munro O'Shaig in the 98th minute of play. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
