Connor McShannachan didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Munro O'Shaig went, in the 5th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. Wal Chisholm in the 12thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Martin Robinson, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Gordon Sandison took the ball and in the 19 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Martin Robinson. Martin Robinson dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. Connor McShannachan took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Munro O'Shaig, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Munro O'Shaig in the 33rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Connor McShannachan saved Portree from getting behind. The supporters of Bathgate booed when Portree was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 34 match minutes in a wonderful position. Stevie Crum didn't get a good kick on the ball. Munro O'Shaig's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Connor McShannachan read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 35th minute of play. Darren McAlister sent away a hard shot on goal in the 36th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Gordon Sandison got in the 39th a clear chance and fired away a hard shot against goal, but Martin Robinson handled the situation perfectly and made a save by the crossbar. Munro O'Shaig fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Connor McShannachan having to interfere. Stevie Crum received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 49th minute. Martin Robinson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

Darren McAlister sent away a hard shot on goal in the 63rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Gordon Sandison might have been able to make a better finish in the 76th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Martin Robinson. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Gordon Sandison ran back to his position shaking his head. Munro O'Shaig received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 84th minute. Connor McShannachan tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Portree's Hamish McGregor got a free kick in the 86th minute. After 89 played minutes Bathgate got a freekick which was hit by Lloyd McThomas. The supporters of Bathgate booed when Portree was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 95 match minutes in a wonderful position. Hamish McGregor didn't get a good kick on the ball. The Bathgate supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Bathgate would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
