With his leg Kyle Binnie managed to avoid a goal in the 6thth minute, when partick thistle's Roddie McKeamish fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Roddie McKeamish succeeded in the game's 10th minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 1-0. Bruce Tyre fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 14th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kyle Binnie having to interfere. A collision led to Saltcoats FC getting a freekick after 15 minutes play. Jonathan Goudie hit a great ball. In the 17th match minute, partick thistle was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Liam McIver to maneuver through the defense. 20 minutes into the match, partick thistle's goal looked a bit too open when Sid Dinwoodie came free, but Paddy McKerlich reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Saltcoats FC's Kyle Binnie played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bruce Tyre in the 21st minute of play. Jonathan Goudie kicked well hit freekick during the 22nd minute of the match. partick thistle's Kyle McMutrie got a good chance for a goal in the 30th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 41 minutes into the match, Saltcoats FC's goalkeeper Kyle Binnie had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Roddie McKeamish. Paddy McKerlich took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nicholas Munn, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Roddie McKeamish might have been able to make a better finish in the 47th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Kyle Binnie. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Roddie McKeamish ran back to his position shaking his head. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Roddie McKeamish to strike the kick off in the second half. Kyle McMutrie received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 52nd minute. Kyle Binnie tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Roddie McKeamish recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 54th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Edmond Shaw hit a great freekick 59 minutes into the match. Bruce Tyre struck a weak shot in the 64th minute. Kyle Binnie didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for partick thistle. Marcus McLaren recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 67th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Innes Parlane hit a great freekick 68 minutes into the match. If Sid Dinwoodie had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the match clock showed 80 minutes, the score became 3-0 when Roddie McKeamish sped through Saltcoats FC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Kyle Binnie. Liam McIver fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 84th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kyle Binnie having to interfere. In the 89th match minute, partick thistle was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bob Fostar to maneuver through the defense. Roddie McKeamish fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kyle Binnie having to interfere. There was no doubt that partick thistle were the better team. partick thistle's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
