Nick Begg showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Adrian Stringer, who was totally free with the ball in the 10th minute. After 14 minutes, Frankie Barr made it 0-1 with a short kick to the right side. Bonnyrigg's Nick Begg tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. But to his dismay, Frankie Barr quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. Danny Bowmaker's late challenge caught a Bonnyrigg's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Danny Bowmaker helped the player get up and apologised. Danny Bowmaker kicked well hit freekick during the 26th minute of the match. The audience was convinced that Ben Fox's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Charles Buntain was relentless in the 29th minute of the game. After a defensive mix-up in Earlston FC's zone, Ben Fox stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Charles Buntain came out of the goal and Ben Fox tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Ben Fox had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

In the 52nd match minute, Earlston FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ronan Barr to maneuver through the defense. Charles Ingram sent away a hard shot on goal in the 53rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
