Spectators: 6802 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1802, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Angus McIndoe got the match started through his kick off. If Angus McIndoe had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 3rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Theo Ellis fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 9th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Phillip Smith having to interfere. Phillip Smith stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Stephen Ayson's shot from short distance in the 10th minute. Ivan McAskill kicked well hit freekick during the 11th minute of the match. Theo Ellis received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 15th minute. Phillip Smith tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Ron Durrant got free with Drew McKichan in the 18th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Portree AFC's Drew McKichan proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 22nd minute of the match, managed to save Portree AFC from getting a goal against them. If Theo Ellis had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 32 minutes into the match, Newcastleton's Angus McIndoe sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Drew McKichan narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Angus McIndoe was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 35th minute. Newcastleton's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Ron Durrant sent away a hard shot on goal in the 38th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The wind increased when Theo Ellis made the kick off in the second half. In the 51st match minute, Newcastleton was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ivan McAskill to maneuver through the defense. Phillip Smith showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Theo Ellis, who was totally free with the ball in the 53rd minute. Theo Ellis recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 55th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Stephen Ayson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 60th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Phillip Smith having to interfere. 66 minutes into the match, Portree AFC's Theo Ellis sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Phillip Smith narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Phillip Smith showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Theo Ellis in the 68th minute of the match. 72 minutes into the game, Stephen Ayson cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Phillip Smith was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 79th minute, Angus McIndoe made a precise shot to the right of Drew McKichan. Portree AFC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. Angus McIndoe kicked well hit freekick during the 86th minute of the match. In the 89th minute Angus McIndoe shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Drew McKichan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Newcastleton booed when Portree AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 89 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tommy Hutchenson didn't get a good kick on the ball. Newcastleton's Angus McIndoe got a good chance for a goal in the 90th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 92nd minute, Ron Durrant got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal.
