In the 17th minute, Steven McCunn got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 18th minute, Graeme Gilfillan got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 20 minutes into the match, Heart of Midlothian F.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Jay Malcolmson came free, but Stevie Lair reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Stevie Lair showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Stevie McHugh in the 21st minute of the match. Kieran Robb made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Steven McCunn in the 30th minute of play. If Stevie McHugh had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to Heart of Midlothian F.C. getting a freekick after 40 minutes play. Greg Lemond hit a great ball. Stevie Lair showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Stevie McHugh in the 43rd minute of the match. After the first half POPPY TEAM FC were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Steven McCunn stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After some careless play in the POPPY TEAM FC defense, Steven McCunn kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Kieran Robb. The POPPY TEAM FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Kieran Robb should have stopped the shot. Kieran Robb made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Graeme Gilfillan in the 60th minute of play. In the 65thth minute of the game Steven McCunn who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but POPPY TEAM FC's Kieran Robb was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. When Heart of Midlothian F.C.'s Steven McCunn in the 71st minute got a chance for a shot 71st didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye POPPY TEAM FC's goalie prevented a goal. The referee ignored POPPY TEAM FC's protests and gave Lee Hossack a yellow card for diving instead. Lee Hossack hit a great freekick 80 minutes into the match. In the 81st minute of the match Greg Lemond shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Kieran Robb showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Kieran Robb showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Steven McCunn, who was totally free with the ball in the 88th minute. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
