Spectators: 6774 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1774, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when William Armour got the match started through his kick off. The audience thought a goal was coming when Darren Small got free with Gary McLeverty in the 5th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. A collision led to Lybster getting a freekick after 12 minutes play. Keith Simon hit a great ball. Gary McLeverty took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from William Armour, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, Lybster's Keith Simon got a free kick in the 15th minute. William Armour sent away a hard shot on goal in the 16th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The audience thought a goal was coming when Darren Small got free with Gary McLeverty in the 18th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Rick McSorley hit a great freekick 19 minutes into the match. After a defensive mix-up in Lybster's zone, William Armour stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gary McLeverty came out of the goal and William Armour tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After having played for 25 minutes, Arthur Carstarphen managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Lybster's supporters crossed their fingers, but Arthur Carstarphen was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Charles McDavid showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rory McRuer, who was totally free with the ball in the 31st minute. When the match had gone on for 33 minutes, William Armour took a quick shot and it went in 1-0 without a chance for Gary McLeverty to make any attempt to save it. Charles McDavid took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rory McRuer, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Gourock United's William Armour in the 45th minute got a chance for a shot 45th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Lybster's goalie prevented a goal. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Arthur Carstarphen was the one to do the kick off. In the 69th minute Arthur Carstarphen shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Charles McDavid saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Darren Small in the 71st minute of play forced Lybster's goalkeeper Gary McLeverty to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Gary McLeverty showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Darren Small, who was totally free with the ball in the 73rd minute. After 73 played minutes Lybster got a freekick which was hit by Keith Simon. Charles McDavid was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 76th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Archie McIndoe. Lybster's Gary McLeverty played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by William Armour in the 77th minute of play. 80 minutes into the match, Lybster's goal looked a bit too open when William Armour came free, but Gary McLeverty reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The referee gave Gourock United a penalty, 83 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Ter Ambrose, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Lybster's Gary McLeverty. 2-1. The supporters of Gourock United booed when Lybster was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 90 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rory McRuer didn't get a good kick on the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Rory McRuer got free with Charles McDavid in the 92nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Lybster's Matthew Bean pulled a muscle in his leg after 96 minutes and couldn't finish the game. When William McInally fell near the penalty area in the 96th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Gourock United's protests and gave William McInally a yellow card for diving instead. In the 97th minute, William McInally hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Rory McRuer recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 99th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. A hard shot 102 in the game by Rory McRuer from a close distance when the talented Charles McDavid managed to make a qualified save. Gourock United's players were relieved. Gourock United's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
