The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Theo McSween took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jim McBain, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Cameron Tawesson during the 14th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After some fancy dribbling in the 17th minute, Jim McBain managed to get in a good position for a shot. Mc Dillon FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Jim McBain was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Theo McSween breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Reece Carmichael could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 19th minute of the match, but Theo McSween made a huge save. The supporters of Mc Dillon FC booed when Tarbert FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 21 match minutes in a wonderful position. Quentin McBride didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 26th minute, Reece Carmichael made a precise shot to the right of Theo McSween. Tarbert FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-0. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Mike Bowie during the 29th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 29 played minutes Tarbert FC got a freekick which was hit by Mike Bowie. After 32 played minutes Jim McBain rounded Tarbert FC's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 2-0. When Greg Dowe came up free with the goalie in the 35th minute, the Tarbert FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Greg Dowe couldn't finish the play. The supporters of Tarbert FC booed when Mc Dillon FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 38 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eddie Carrick didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ivan Gilfillan recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 46th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Greg Dowe sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

Mc Dillon FC's Reece Carmichael got a good chance for a goal in the 52nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Tarbert FC's Ivan Gilfillan was standing unmarked in front of the goal when he, in the 58th play minute, got the ball and easily drilled it into the goal. If Ivan Gilfillan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 63rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Mc Dillon FC's Jim McBain got a good chance for a goal in the 68th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 70th minute Jim McBain shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Theo McSween saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Mc Dillon FC's zone, Quentin McBride stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Larry McGown came out of the goal and Quentin McBride tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 76 minutes into the match, Mc Dillon FC's goalkeeper Larry McGown had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Greg Dowe. Jim McBain received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 79th minute. Theo McSween tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Greg Dowe had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 82nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ivan Gilfillan sent away a hard shot on goal in the 83rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 84 minutes of play Mc Dillon FC's Cameron Tawesson was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. After a rather tough play, Mc Dillon FC's Cameron Tawesson got a free kick in the 85th minute. With a little luck, Mc Dillon FC's Larry McGown got control of the ball when Greg Dowe tried to sneak it across the goal line. Tarbert FC's Greg Dowe got a good chance for a goal in the 93rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Mc Dillon FC's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
