Jack Findlay showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Roddie McDade, who was totally free with the ball in the 6th minute. After a rather tough play, Wick United's Aidan Frissell got a free kick in the 10th minute. Alex Miller hit a great freekick 15 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tony McQuaire in the 19th minute of play forced Wick United's goalkeeper Stewart Clarkson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to Deportivo Español getting a freekick after 27 minutes play. Christopher Barns hit a great ball. Brian McConnechy fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jack Findlay having to interfere. Brian McConnechy received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 33rd minute. Jack Findlay tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Through an outstanding action, after 35 minutes, Jack Findlay successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

If Tony McQuaire had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 51st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jack Findlay showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Steven McDaid in the 55th minute of the match. In the 57th minute, Roddie McDade ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Jack Findlay was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-0. 71 minutes into the match, Deportivo Español's Tony McQuaire sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Stewart Clarkson narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Roddie McDade received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 74th minute. Jack Findlay tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Angus Airlie fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 76th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Stewart Clarkson having to interfere. 87 minutes into the match, Deportivo Español's goal looked a bit too open when Roddie McDade came free, but Jack Findlay reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 90 played minutes, Wick United's Munro McDrain shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Jack Findlay came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Wick United reached it. When Gus Eaton fell near the penalty area in the 91st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Deportivo Español's protests and gave Gus Eaton a yellow card for diving instead. In the 91st minute, Gus Eaton hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Roddie McDade struck a weak shot in the 92nd minute. Jack Findlay didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Wick United. Wick United's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
