Aiden McGruther came out of the goal and Henry McMurchy tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. With a little luck, Thurso United's Aiden McGruther got control of the ball when Jay Foulis tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 34th minute Dean McEachin shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rupert Ayres saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Direwolves's Henry McMurchy got a good chance for a goal in the 36th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Nigel McOwl stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 54 minutes into the match, Direwolves's goalkeeper Rupert Ayres had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Dean McEachin. If Dean McEachin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 55th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 60 minutes into the game, Henry McMurchy cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-2. Aiden McGruther was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. If Dean McEachin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute. Jay Foulis fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 68th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Aiden McGruther having to interfere.
