After 12 minutes of play, Thurso United's Dean McEachin made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Ricky Carrick was left in no man's land by his defense there! If Dean McEachin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 15th minute. The referee gave Thurso United a penalty, 23 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Roddie McRa, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Gorebridge United's Ricky Carrick. 0-3. Dean McEachin fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 26th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ricky Carrick having to interfere. If Mark McPhorich had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 44 played minutes, Thurso United's Roddie McRa shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Ricky Carrick came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Thurso United reached it. Nigel McOwl sent away a hard shot on goal in the 46th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Mark McPhorich to strike the kick off in the second half. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Aiden McGruther prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Thurso United eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
